Andrea Ubhi Dentistry was founded in York in 2002 and is run by Andrea Ubhi, a daughter of entrepreneurs. Its core values have been passed down from parents to daughter: live by ethical values, deeply care for all people, push boundaries and strive continuously for excellence.

In the late 1990s, Andrea was blown away by the cosmetic dentistry that was being done in America. It was not like any dentistry that she had seen before. So she went over to learn the skills at a practice in Maddison Avenue, New York. She brought these techniques back to the UK and became one of the pioneering cosmetic dentists in the country.

Andrea opened her first NHS practice in York in 1996 while she was on maternity leave with her first child. This practice grew from ground-zero to become one of the largest NHS practices in York. Andrea sold her NHS practice in 2014 as a 10 surgery practice so she could focus on her private practice.

Andrea opened the private luxury dental practice, Andrea Ubhi Dentistry, in 2002, in the centre of historic York, in a beautiful building near the Minster. She did this, again, while she was on maternity leave.

In 2015, she relocated this private practice into the present, newly refurbished premises. This Grade II listed building enabled the practice to double in capacity, and now takes referrals from over 50% of the region’s general dentists, being a national centre for dental implants and cosmetic dentistry.

Andrea was the first female and the youngest winner of the national Dentist of the Year award in 2005. She was humbled to receive such recognition at a young age. She then went on to win Dentist of the Year North 2013.

Andrea has been awarded Best Employer UK for her exceptional commitment to creating a supportive workplace environment in her dental practice. This recognition underlines her leadership and dedication to employee well-being, setting a benchmark in the industry for fostering professional growth and satisfaction among her team.

In 2022, 2023, & 2024, Andrea was awarded the Cosmetic Dentistry Pioneer of the Year. More recently, Andrea has been named as one of the 10 Most Significant Leaders in Dentistry in the world, by CIO World, and has been recongised in the Top 50 list of Dentists in UK.

Andrea is the author of “The Essential Guide to Dental Implants – Learn insider secrets and avoid costly mistakes!”, written with one of the UK’s leading implant surgeons, Dr. Adam Glassford.

In this book, Dr Ubhi and Dr Glassford explain how missing teeth are having a devastating effect on the majority of the population, and reveal some ways in which both dentists and patients need to recognise how to reduce this.
