Options for patients missing all their teeth: A general overview of the options.
Our team looks after patients on a day-to-day basis who need all their teeth replacing and have done so for many years.
Patients can lose their teeth for many reasons, including gum disease and tooth decay, and this can be very distressing. Our team of highly experienced surgeons fully understand this and we work hard with all of our patients to find the very best solution for their circumstances. There is an individual solution for every patient.
Some patients may opt for the option of a conventional denture, a classic, removable restoration. However, some patients may opt for a more permanent or fixed solution. These patients can consider dental implant treatments such as implant-stabilised dentures or implant-secured fixed bridges.
A dental implant is a small titanium cylinder that is placed gently into the jaw bone, once placed, dental implants can fix restorations in placed, giving patients a more secure, fitted replacement for their missing teeth.
Previously patients would have needed much higher bone levels to be suitable for dental implants. But with the development of Straumann’s new generation of Roxolid implants, which a shorter and smaller, less bone is needed to secure the dental implant, meaning more patients are now suitable for treatment. 98% of the patients we see have enough bone to be accepted for dental implant treatment with this new generation of dental implant.
