Two Types of Dental Veneers
Porcelain Veneers
For decades Porcelain Veneers have been one of the most popular choices for changing smiles. They are the ‘gold standard’ for aesthetics and durability. Porcelain Veneers are made by bonding a wafer thin layer of porcelain to the front surface of a tooth, after minor preparation (similar to a false fingernail). A single veneer can be placed to change a single tooth, or veneers can be placed on all the teeth visible in the upper smile, 8-10 teeth for example, for a Smile Makeover. Porcelain veneers are made by our world class ceramists and fitted by our highly experienced dentists.
Composite Veneers
Composite veneers are a conservative way to change the shape, colour, size and position of your teeth. An advanced white filling material (composite) is bonded directly to the surface of a tooth and sets within a few seconds, giving immediate results. We use an advanced layering technique which allows us to build up a tooth in the same manner it was formed in nature, producing lifelike restorations. Stains, white spots and translucent areas can all be masked or copied using these materials, as the systems we use have a vast array of different colours and shades. No preparation is normally required to a tooth, and this is one of the most conservative restorations available. Composite veneers are created free hand by our skilled clinican, Dr Steve Gibson.
