At Love Dental, we are equipped with the latest Sirona ORTHOPHOS XG 3D cone beam dental CT scanner. CT scans can provide the clinician with 3D visualisation of the anatomy of the jaws and associated structures, to improve planning for procedures and to reduce litigation risk.
Dentists may refer to our CBCT scanning service for a number of clinical applications including:
- Implantology: looking at bone quality, bone height and width, and the positions of adjacent nerves and teeth.
- Oral surgery: visualising un-erupted third molars and the position of the ID and mental nerves.
- Endodontics: realising the anatomy of curves of roots.
- Orthodontics: understanding the positioning of relevant un-erupted teeth.
- Guided Implant Surgery
Patients can be referred simply for a CBCT scan or a CBCT scan could be in conjunction with treatments that they have been referred for. The key benefit of CBCT scans for implants and guided surgery for your patients is that it improves the accuracy of implant placement to within 0.5 mm. This is particularly useful in areas involving the lower posterior teeth in the vicinity of the ID nerve and lingual artery.
The Sirona CT scanner is also very safe compared to larger hospital scanners as the level of radiation exposure to your patient is very low.
CT Scan Reporting
In addition to our scanning service, Dr Adam Glassford can provide a diagnostic reporting service, producing a radiology report for each scan.
To Refer a Patient for CBCT Scanning
If you would like to refer your first patient for a scan to us, please contact Carmel Wood on 01904 644765 or email her at email@example.com and ask for the Service Level Agreement and CBCT referral form. The Agreement needs to be completed in accordance with the HPA-CRCE-010: guidance on the safe use of dental cone beam CT (computed tomography) equipment, providing evidence of the referring clinican having completed a satisfactory CBCT training course.
